Driving Innovative Care
Through cutting-edge research, clinical trials, and collaborations, we focus on speeding up the development of new therapies and improving outcomes for people affected by multiple myeloma.
We identify biomarkers, evaluate new treatments, and refine clinical practices to deliver the best possible patient care.
Collaborating for Hope
We believe that by fostering partnerships and driving scientific discoveries, we can make a significant impact in the global fight against multiple myeloma.
Our goal is to offer hope to patients and their families while setting new standards in cancer care.
Through our comprehensive research efforts, including the integration of Real-World Evidence, we aim to extend and enhance the lives of those affected by multiple myeloma, continually seeking new ways to combat this challenging disease.
Our Vision
CMRG strives to redefine the future of multiple myeloma by advancing innovative research, fostering global collaboration, integrating real-world data, and prioritizing patient-centered care. Our vision is to accelerate the discovery of transformative treatments — and ultimately a cure — while ensuring that research meaningfully improves outcomes and quality of life for patients.
Our Mission
Our mission at the Canadian Myeloma Research Group (CMRG) is to lead the charge against multiple myeloma by advancing innovative research, improving patient outcomes, and accelerating the development of new therapies.
We are committed to:
Research Excellence: Conducting groundbreaking research that deepens our understanding of multiple myeloma and leads to transformative treatments.
Patient Focus: Ensuring that our research directly translates into better care, improved quality of life, and extended survival for patients with multiple myeloma.
Collaboration: Fostering a strong etwork of researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to enhance the impact of our work on a global scale.
Data-Driven Approaches: Utilizing real-world evidence from our comprehensive national database to inform our research and clinical practices.
Education and Advocacy: Promoting education and awareness about multiple myeloma and advocating for policies that support research and patient care.
Key Research Areas
Our mission is to advance the understanding and treatment of multiple myeloma through cutting-edge research and clinical innovation. We are committed to translating scientific discoveries into meaningful clinical applications that improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Below are the key research areas where we’re focusing our efforts:
Clinical Trials
Our team conducts a wide range of clinical trials focused on exploring new therapies and treatment strategies. These trials are designed to enhance the standard of care for multiple myeloma patients, offering them access to the latest advancements in medical science.
Translational
Research & Biobank
The CMRG’s translational research and biobanking program advances biomarker discovery, target validation, resistance mechanisms, and diagnostic innovation. These efforts deepen our understanding of disease biology and treatment response, enabling more precise and personalized therapies for people with multiple myeloma.
Minimal Residual Disease (MRD)
MRD detection and quantification is a crucial aspect of our research. Understanding MRD allows us to develop strategies aimed at achieving long-term remission and potentially curing multiple myeloma.
Real World Evidence (RWE)
Our research is strengthened by Real World Evidence from CMRG’s national database, helping us assess treatment outcomes in real-life settings. These insights enhance our clinical trials and deepen understanding of multiple myeloma.
Collaboration and Innovation
We work closely with leading institutions, clinicians, and researchers across the globe. Our collaborative efforts are focused on leveraging the latest technologies and methodologies to push the boundaries of myeloma research.
Patient-Centered Research
Ensuring that our research directly benefits patients is a top priority. We design our studies with the goal of improving the lives of those affected by multiple myeloma, offering hope through scientific innovation and a patient-centric approach.
Our Impact
The Canadian Myeloma Research Group (CMRG) is a leader in advancing multiple myeloma research, treatment, and patient care. Through innovative therapies, pioneering studies, and global collaboration, we have improved outcomes and helped shape standards in myeloma management. Over the past decade, CMRG has enrolled over 600 patients in clinical trials, delivered more than 25,000 treatment cycles, and captured data from over 12,000 patients in our national database, generating critical real-world evidence that has informed clinical practice and contributed to over 50 publications and presentations worldwide.
